This year we are bringing our annual Outdoors for Autism indoors! Join INCLUDEnyc, as well as our amazing partners—KEEN New York, The Intrepid Museum, The Amazing Max, Drag Queen Story Hour, Extreme Kids and Crew, and Cake Designs by Sherry—for a day of virtual fun and entertainment.

How exactly does a ship float? Learn about the steps engineers take as they carry out a project such as making a ship large as Intrepid float and experiment creating your own floating vessels.
Materials: A sheet of foil, large bowl (plastic), and 20 to 40 pennies. Paper clips, safety pins, marbles, or other small pieces that won’t dissolve could work, as well.

KEEN on Yoga is a program that empowers youth with disabilities through yoga exercises, breathing techniques, games, partner/group poses, stories and music. Yoga is a practice that helps to calm and center the mind, while stretching and strengthening the body. Throughout the sessions, everyone will be free to move and groove, expressing themselves and improving their self-esteem.
Materials: If available, yoga mat, towel, blanket, or carpet.
Target age: 5-21
Presented by The Amazing Max!
The Amazing Max takes his magic and jokes online to engage kids at home! Kids will learn 3 magic tricks using objects available right in your home (magic experience not required!)
Materials: 1 dollar bill, 2 paper clips, 1 quarter, 1 nickel, 2 pennies and a deck of cards
Max Darwin (aka The Amazing Max) is based in NYC and performs his family magic show Off Broadway and on tour. When COVID-19 hit, Max and his wife quickly pivoted their business to engage kids in another way with virtual magic lessons. Max loves theater, magic, ninjas, and the sound of children laughing. He can be seen as a featured artist on “Brain Games” (National Geographic Channel) and magic consultant for “Gotham” (Fox) and “American’s Got Talent” (NBC).
Target age: 6 and up
For younger kids who would like to participate, an adult presence is recommended to help them with the tricks.

Sherry will provide kids and families step by step instructions on how to make the perfect chocolate chip cookie!
Recipe Ingredients:
10 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
Pinch of salt
2 medium eggs OR one XL egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 3/4 cups chocolate chips or chocolate chunks

Cakes by Sherry is the lifelong dream of Sherry Boodhan Singh, who was born in Guyana and raised in Ozone Park, Queens. At a young age, Sherry was inspired by traditional Caribbean desserts made in her grandmother’s and mother's kitchen and would make cakes for friends & family events. Her work has been featured in specialty cake media such as Satin Ice and has reached as far as The White House. Sherry plans to further her work by opening her first store this year.

Cuentos e historias junto a una Drag Queen (Drag Queen Story Hour NYC—DQHS en inglés) ofrece una variedad de experiencias educativas y entretención para niños y adolescentes de 3 a 18 años en las bibliotecas, escuelas, museos y otros espacios comunitarios en toda la Ciudad de Nueva York. Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) NYC provides a range of fun, educational experiences for children and teens from 3 to 18 years old in libraries, schools, museums, and other community spaces across New York City. Through storytelling and creativity, DQSH teaches children about all forms of difference to build empathy and give kids the confidence to express themselves however they feel comfortable.

This event welcomes young people with autism, and all young people and their families.
